Overview
CAVEWAS has developed a new Advanced Vocational Evaluation Module: Writing Defensible Vocational Evaluation Reports for Tort/Forensic Contexts in Canada.
This module is designed for professionals seeking to expand their expertise in vocational evaluation, as well as those with experience in the insurance, disability management, or rehabilitation sectors who are interested in strengthening their competencies in tort, personal injury, and other forensic contexts. It provides a structured, practical approach to organizing, analyzing, and writing vocational evaluation reports intended for legal audiences.
The module emphasizes clarity, defensibility, and professional judgment, helping learners elevate their work from competent to court-ready. Participants will learn to distinguish between facts, assumptions, and opinions; evaluate pre- and post-accident vocational trajectories; and write in a style appropriate for both legal and professional standards.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this module, learners will be able to:
- Conduct efficient and effective file reviews
- Distinguish between objective evidence and subjective report and weigh their use in building vocational opinions
- Identify and evaluate pre-accident trajectories using academic, employment, medical, collateral sources, and psychometric testing
- Analyze post-accident vocational capacity using psychometric, medical, and other evidence
- Articulate clear vocational opinions on employability factors including access to the labour market, placeability, competitive advantage, and retraining potential
- Structure reports using logical flow, consistent tone, and defensible language for legal audiences
- Avoid common pitfalls and reinforce objectivity while incorporating expert judgment
