As per our conversation about seeing which assessments we typically use:  My typical vocational test battery is:

    CAPS – Aptitudes

    STRONG – Interests

    WRAT5 – Academics

Looking forward to seeing what others use.

    Hello Tamara,

    For aptitudes:

I like using the Valpar Pro-3000 and the CareerScope. Both these tests are computer administered and can be used remotely. Things I like about CareerScope’s aptitude test battery is that they use GATB factors, which directly correlate to the NOC, as opposed to CAPS. Instructions are at a grade 4 level, so it is easier for ESL clients. It is self scored and can be completed in about 30 minutes. One downside for me is that the battery is bundled with an interest inventory using the GOE codes. I would prefer Holland codes and the option to give the aptitude and interest tests independently.

The Valpar Pro-3000 is a good and comprehensive measure of aptitudes and academic achievement but it is no longer for sale.

Another option for aptitude testing is the CFIT, a relatively recent test offered by IRP Canada (https://en.irpcanada.com/cfit). It measures the following GATB aptitudes: G (separated in crystallised and fluid intelligence scores), Verbal, Numerical and Spatial aptitudes. I have not yet used it but one apparent benefit is that it is computer administered and can be used remotely. I would see the CFIT as a good complement to triangulate aptitude scores.

For in-person evaluations, I also rely on Valpar work samples and parts of the GATB.

    For academic Achievement:

I use the Pro-3000 , which I supplement with the WRAT-5, as needed to measure sentence comprehension.

    Interests

I rely on either CareerScope or Career Cruising.
