I would appreciate some input on this matter. This pertains to Ltd Voc Evaluations, where we can recommend training up to 6 months. Let’s say a participant has a Grade 9 education and was assessed to be a suitable candidate for retraining. Suppose we identify an occupation that requires a high school or equivalent. How would you approach this? Knowing that obtaining a GED often requires self-preparation, although individuals can choose to participate in prep programs and courses, and is contingent upon passing the exam, timelines can vary from individual and are often unclear.
I consider the participant’s age, demonstrated educational achievement, why they discontinued schooling, and their assessed academic scores. However, even with this, it is hard to predict timelines, especially given the limitations of the VEs.
My question is, would this be something that would be reasonable to recommend within the retraining cutoff (6 months) or no given the uncertainty of training timelines?
I am aware of providers that do GED diagnostics tests to determine the person’s academic knowledge (English, Math, Science, and Social Studies) and determine the length of training an individual would require to succeed in a GED test (their recommendation is often 16 weeks)… Is this something to consider?
